Advices!

Hello my friends!

I am a textile and fashion designer and would like to help you.

Here you can find advices how to take care of textile products on this site, what to do if the fabric products which has already been used and needs to be disposed of ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY.

How to take care of the fabrics and how to dispose?

IKIRI uses only natural materials: silk, linen, cotton or a mixture of them which is easy to care for and compostable. Digital printing is the most environmentally friendly printing method.

Maintenance of fabrics and fabric products.

These tips are to help your fabrics and textiles stay healthy, beautiful and shiny for longer.

Washing:

The printed fabric should be washed at the lowest possible temperature to preserve the color.

The temperature should not exceed 40ºC. Be careful when using the centrifuge. Do not use maximum speed.

Printing with darker colors may wear out after several wash cycles (in some areas the color becomes much dimmer). It is caused by wrinkles in the fabric (including seams, etc.) and is not considered a printing defect. Paint "rubbing" can also be caused by metal buckles, locks, leather belts, or other more robust surfaces that rub vigorously against the fabric during washing. Friction can also be caused by the cylinder of the washing machine, so it is recommended to put the printed fabric in a special bag for delicate laundry. It helps the colors last longer.

Ironing:

Use the linen or cotton mode to iron the fabric, depending on the composition of the fabric. It is recommended to iron the left side of the fabric so that the print can remain shiny.

Bleaching:

The fabric should never be bleached. It is advisable to avoid sunlight when drying the fabric.

Drying:

It is recommended to use the natural way to dry the fabric. Do not tumble dry printed fabrics!

What to do with used fabrics or textile items?

1. Find out if your used fabrics or textile items can be reused or recycled!

• Craftsmen who make quilts, rag dolls, rag rugs, etc.

• An industry that processes textiles into yarns.

• Investigate alternative recycle programs!

2. Donate to the homeless!

3. Donate them to second hand stores!

4. See if they can be composted!

Garments and fabrics made of cotton and other natural fibers can be composted if they are not mixed with synthetic fibers such as polyester. To compost them, crush them finely and remove any attachments such as zippers or buttons.

The most common natural fibers are: linen, cotton, silk, wool, viscose, coconut, bamboo, sisal and others.

5. If you really don't want to use any previous suggestions or to throw fabrics or items away, you can reuse them at home. Turn them into dusters to clean your living rooms by simply cutting them apart - used textile material, especially natural, is very suitable for dusting. You can save money, keep your home clean and recycle used materials or items.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR FABRICS AND TEXTILE ITEMS!
